Kirsten Gibson

Kirsten Gibson is the Founder and Clinical Director of Gibson Orthotics, bringing over a decade of expertise in orthotics and prosthetics with a dedicated focus on paediatric care.

Her career has been defined by a commitment to innovation, patient‑centred solutions, and advancing the standards of therapy for children with complex needs.

Kirsten holds advanced qualifications in scoliosis bracing and cranial remoulding, enabling her to provide highly specialized interventions for children with spinal deformities and cranial asymmetries.

These additional certifications reflect her passion for evidence‑based, tailored care that not only addresses clinical challenges but also supports the holistic wellbeing of each child and their family.

Her special interest in paediatric orthotic and prosthetic care has led her to develop treatment pathways that prioritise comfort, growth and long‑term outcomes.

Kirsten works closely with multidisciplinary teams – including physiotherapists, occupational therapists and paediatricians - to ensure that every child receives comprehensive, integrated support.

Beyond her clinical practice, Kirsten serves as Chair of the South African Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (SAOPA), where she advocates for professional excellence, accessibility of care, and the advancement of orthotic and prosthetic services nationally. In this role, she has been instrumental in shaping policy discussions, mentoring emerging clinicians, and promoting innovation across the profession.
