Samantha graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2010. She thereafter spent six years working at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic hospital, where she discovered her passion for paediatric physiotherapy and worked in all areas of acute and chronic paediatric rehabilitation.

While at Bara, she was the allied coordinator for the multidisciplinary neonatal follow-up clinic, as well as the physio coordinator for the Haemophilia and HIV clinics.

In 2016 Samantha graduated with an MSc in paediatric neurological physiotherapy from Wits. Her research focused on the neurodevelopmental outcomes of infants after discharge from the neonatal intensive care unit, and has been presented at three conferences. Samantha then opened her private practice, offering hospital and out-patient services. She is a clinical educator for Wits final year physiotherapy students, and has lectured at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has served two years on the South African Society of Physiotherapy Paediatric GEC as the PR and Marketing coordinator.

Samantha continues to expand her professional knowledge by attending numerous courses, certifications and lectures. She has completed the Basic and Advanced Paediatric Neurodevelopmental Therapy (NDT) courses, and is accredited in the use of the Prechtl’s General Movements Assessment. She has seen first-hand the impact early therapeutic intervention has on a child’s life, and is driven to giving infants this opportunity to thrive. Her other special interests are in ICU rehabilitation, neurological and genetic disorders, and neonatal neurodevelopmental care and follow-up.
