Ashleigh van Eden

Ashleigh completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town, graduating in 2017. She completed her community service year at Mafikeng Provincial Hospital where she gained valuable experience working with both adults and children. She then began working at a paediatric practice where she was able to work within a multidisciplinary team and developed her passion for Early Childhood Intervention. During these 3 years, she broadened her experience providing intervention to children by working at both  mainstream and special needs school, and by treating children of all ages within a team.

Ashleigh completed her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Intervention through the University of Pretoria, graduating in 2020. Her goal is to advocate for the needs of her patients and their families and facilitate their development and participation in daily activities through a family and participation based approach.

Ashleigh has continued to increase her knowledge by completing various courses, which include; The Art and Science of Breastfeeding, Makaton Introduction and PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) Introduction. She has special interests in Literacy Difficulties, Phonological Awareness and Childhood Apraxia.

Ashleigh joined Early Bird Therapy Centre at the beginning of 2022.
