Keely-Shaye Boon
Keely-Shaye Boon is a passionate and dedicated Speech and Language Pathologist with a special interest in supporting neurodivergent children and those with complex communication and developmental needs in developing meaningful, functional communication.
She graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Speech and Language Pathology and has since pursued extensive postgraduate training. Her training includes specialised approaches for motor speech disorders, including PROMPT, DTTC, and NDP3 for Childhood Apraxia of Speech. She has further trained in neurodiversity-affirming frameworks such as DIR: Floortime and Gestalt Language Processing, supporting child-led, strengths-based communication development. She is also trained in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, supporting oral function, feeding, and speech development. She remains deeply committed to ongoing professional development to ensure her practice is aligned with current, evidence-informed approaches.
Keely-Shaye is the founder of The Communication Club. She provides therapy across a variety of settings, including her practice rooms, preschools, and home environments, allowing for a flexible and context-sensitive approach to care.
Her clinical interests include neurodiversity-affirming practice, early communication development, motor speech disorders, and supporting children with complex communication needs. She is particularly passionate about working with autistic children and gestalt language processors, with a strong focus on building authentic, self-generated communication.
Her approach is relationship-centred, child-led and holistic. She prioritises connection, emotional safety, and sensory regulation as foundational to communication development. Keely-Shaye works closely with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams, empowering caregivers with practical strategies and support to carry communication into everyday life.
Outside of her clinical work, she is actively involved in advocacy and education around neurodiversity. She regularly engages in parent education, professional training, and community-based initiatives aimed at increasing understanding, acceptance, and support for neurodivergent individuals.
She is known for her warm, engaging style and her commitment to walking alongside families throughout their journey, ensuring each child is supported in a way that honours their individuality and communication profile.
